Recently the judiciary authorities announced that they will also try 10 more members of Jondullah, without revealing their names.
In the continuation of the execution of political prisoners in Balochistan, the Iranian government announced that it has executed Mr Abdul Malik Rigi, the former leader of Popular Resistance Movement of Iran - Jondullah. Mr Rigi was never tried in open court and did not have access to defence lawyers.
Recently the judiciary authorities announced that they will also try 10 more members of Jondullah, without revealing their names.
Weeks ahead of the one year anniversary of June 2009 election, which was rigged in favour of Mr. Ahmadinezhad, the security forces in Balochistan started detention of innocent people in many parts of Balochistan.
We are concerned that the regime by announcing this trial, is planning to execute more political prisoners in Balochistan.
Based on the regime’s behaviour in Balochistan which is characterised by mass execution of young Baloch men, Balochistan Peoples Party urges to:
1- Raise with the government of Iran, the issue of the current critical situation of the Baloch people in Iran who continues to suffer from denial of basic human rights;
2- Call upon the government of Iran to immediately investigate the extra-judicial killings of civilian Baloch persons living in Iran;
3- Pressure the Iranian authorities to stop torturing Baloch prisoners, give them fair trials and access to defence lawyers; and
4- Pressure the government of Iran to release all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience.
