The Balochistan National Party (BNP) has stated that the party wants self-rule as the demand for provincial autonomy was outdated.
Party leaders made this demand while addressing a press conference on Monday at the Karachi Press Club (KPC). He said that the Baloch believed that problems could not be solved in the parliament because the chief minister and governor were also powerless.
BNP Senior Vice-President Dr Jehan Zeb Jamaldini, ex-MNA Rauf Mengal, ex-MPA Akhtar Lango and Chairman Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Mohiuddin Baloch condemned the killing of three Baloch leaders and demanded an investigation through the United Nations and an international judiciary to punish those involved in this killing. They criticised the present regime, and rejected the judicial commission constituted by the federal government.
The BNP leaders said five military operations were conducted against the Baloch people since 1947 and added that the people of Balochistan were ignored in every government. They said that the people of Balochistan wanted harmony and declared that they would not protect others if they were not recognised and not paid respect.
Dr Jamaldini said that the three Baloch leaders were kidnapped from the office of Kachkol Ali advocate and the people who kidnapped them came in plainclothes. They handcuffed them and covered their faces with masks. He said the kidnappers also took away another lawyer from the office but they released him when he identified himself.
He said when the advocate tried to lodge an FIR against the kidnapping of the Baloch leaders, the police refused to register the case. Dr Jamaldini said there was no difference between Gen. (retd) Musharraf and President Zardari. He claimed that BNP President Panjgor Kifayat Baloch was also kidnapped and expressed fear that he might also be killed. Ex-MNA Mengal claimed that Abdul Kabir Baloch, Mushtaq Baloch and Ataullah Baloch were also kidnapped from Khuzdar and they also might be killed.
