KARACHI: The power crisis still looms large on the national horizons, as the prolonged periods of power outages have afflicted people with no saviour in sight.

The federal and provincial government made myriads of announcements; however, no announcement could turn out to be the solution to the this great problem. The strict directives of the government are falling flat on the power producing companies and the people have been at last forced to spend nights on roads and under open skies.

The period of power load shedding in Lahore has gone to the length of 12 to 16 hours, spurring the water shortage. In most parts of the city, three-hour load shedding is being carried out. Moreover, some areas stayed deprived of power the whole last night.

The security at the installations of Wapda has been stepped up in the wake of protest demonstrations in Bahawalpur, Lahore, Multan and other parts of Punjab.

In the largest city of Pakistan, the span of power load shedding is six to eight hours daily. On top of it, the cable faults developed owing to little drizzle three days ago, could not be fixed thus far.

In several areas of the metropolitan, the power was restored after agonizing 26 hours. The residents of Defence-V Badar Commercial Street staged protest demo against Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on the protracted power outages.

In Peshawar as well, the load shedding durations in civic areas are eight to ten hours and in rural areas ten to 12 hours, worsening the water issue in the city.

The power outages are causing the domestic electric gadgets to go out of order.
