Change in attitude is must for peace and stability in Balochistan, says BNP leader Akhtar Jan Mengal
QUETTA: (Dunya News) – Balochistan National Party (BNP) head Akhtar Jan Mengal on Friday lashed out at the Balochistan government, saying that the rulers were more worried about the Murree Agreement than the peace in Balochistan.
Holding a press conference in Quetta, Akhtar Mengal said that the rulers were more worried about the Murree Agreement than about Balochistan. He said that change in attitude is must for peace and stability in Balochistan.
Mengal said that the decisions regarding Balochistan are still being made in Islamabad despite the 18th amendment.
Some are dancing because of the Murree Agreement while others are crying.
Murree Agreement was a deal between Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), National Party (NP) and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) that decided the terms of power-sharing between the three parties in Balochistan. According to the formula written in the document, “For the first half of the five-year term, the chief minister will be from the National Party which has nominated its president Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, after which PML-N’s provincial president Sardar Sanaullah Zehri will replace him,”.
The deal had been signed by the representatives of the three parties; Mehmood Khan Achakzai for PkMAP, Mir Hasil Bizenjo for NP and Sardar Sanaullah Zehri for PML-N.
